Orlando International Airport (MCO) has introduced a new resource for neurodivergent travelers: Annie’s Space, a sensory room designed to offer peace and comfort in the midst of a bustling terminal. The space features calming colors, soft lighting, and carefully selected materials that help reduce sensory overload.
The design, developed by School Specialty, was rooted in accessibility and sensory-friendly principles. We were proud to fabricate this space, translating the vision into a welcoming, durable, and functional environment that serves families and individuals who need a moment to reset during their travel experience.
Annie’s Space is part of a growing recognition that public spaces — especially high-stress environments like airports — need to work for everyone. By making thoughtful adjustments to how we build and design, spaces like this help ensure that travel is more inclusive, safe, and supportive.
