Two by Two, the Kids Came Through: Inside an Immersive Bible Adventure
May 15, 2026
Walking into the newly redesigned Covenant Kids space at Covenant Church in Destrehan, Louisiana, feels less like entering a children’s wing and more like stepping directly into the pages of scripture.
Designed to fully immerse children in Biblical storytelling, this vibrant environment transforms ordinary hallways and classrooms into larger-than-life experiences inspired by some of the Bible’s most memorable moments. From the moment families arrive, they are welcomed into the world of Noah’s Ark through colorful murals, scenic elements, and interactive features designed to capture the imaginations of young learners.
Throughout the environment, floor-to-ceiling artwork surrounds children with animals, landscapes, and scenes drawn from scripture. The themed design goes beyond decoration, using immersive visual storytelling to help create a memorable and engaging ministry experience.
Every Wall Has a Story to Tell
One of the most meaningful aspects of the Covenant Kids project is the incorporation of scripture directly into the mural artwork itself.
Several murals throughout the space feature carefully selected Bible verses woven naturally into the environments, helping reinforce the ministry’s spiritual goals in a highly visual way. Rather than existing separately on signage or posters, these scriptures become part of the experience itself.
This level of customization allows each themed environment to reflect the unique mission, values, and teaching focus of the individual church or ministry. From featured verses to specific Biblical themes and imagery, mural artwork can be tailored to support the lessons and messages that matter most to each client’s congregation.
For children, these visual reminders help scripture feel present, approachable, and connected to the stories unfolding around them.
Welcome Aboard the Arkatorium
At the center of the environment is “The Arkatorium,” a large gathering space where children and leaders come together for worship, fellowship, lessons, and activities.
The room’s standout feature is a large three-dimensional ark structure that invites children to climb, explore, and interact with the story of Noah in a physical and memorable way. Designed as both a scenic focal point and an interactive play feature, the ark helps transform Biblical storytelling into something children can truly experience.
Bible Stories Around Every Corner
Beyond the Arkatorium, additional themed spaces throughout the facility immerse children in other powerful moments from scripture.
Children encounter scenes inspired by Moses parting the Red Sea, Jesus walking on water, and the feeding of the multitudes, each designed to help bring familiar Biblical accounts to life in a visually engaging way.
Other areas feature warm depictions of Jesus interacting with children, reinforcing messages of love, compassion, and faithfulness in a way that feels welcoming and approachable for young audiences.
When Sound Panels Join the Story
Custom acoustic panels help improve sound control while continuing the themed design of the Arkatorium. These panels can be customized to fit nearly any theme, shape, or environment. Past projects have even included ceiling-mounted panels designed as life-like manta rays swimming overhead.
Designed to Help Faith Come Alive
The completed Covenant Kids redesign reflects a thoughtful investment in creating an environment where children can play, learn, worship, and grow in their faith through immersive experiences designed specifically with them in mind.
Rather than relying solely on curriculum or classroom teaching, the environment itself becomes part of the ministry toolset. Every mural, scenic detail, scripture reference, and interactive element works together to help children connect emotionally and visually with the stories being taught each week.
Because sometimes the spaces children remember most are the ones that helped the stories feel real.
