The Bookworm's Playground: A Library Lawn full of Imagination
August 22, 2025
At the newly-built Denmark Library in Alpharetta, Georgia, an outdoor area is now home to a story-themed space where books and play collide. Created through a hands-on collaboration between several teams, the project brings a reading-inspired world to life.

The Worm Wiggles to Life
Beyond the surface graphics, the bookworm bursts into three dimensions with sculpted arches that rise from the ground, simulating motion and offering places to climb and crawl. A friendly sculpted face gives the character personality, while a giant open book adds visual weight and reinforces the library connection.
Toadstools With Character
In one corner of the space, a cluster of sculpted toadstools adds another layer of interactive play. Designed for climbing, sitting, or imaginative use, these fun features enhance the visual storytelling and encourage creative exploration.
An Apple a Day... Adds to the Play
An apple-shaped interactive feature provides another tactile moment in a playful nod to the bookworm’s favorite treat. It adds a pop of color, a tactile experience, and a clever final detail that completes the narrative theme.
Designed Together, Built to Inspire
This project is a true example of creative collaboration. Every piece, from the surface design to the sculpted forms, was made with teamwork and a shared vision. The result is a vibrant space that brings books off the shelves and into kids' imaginations.
